Understanding Edge Betting Grades: A–F Thresholds

What an Edge grade measures

An Edge grade summarizes the estimated price advantage between a current sportsbook offer and the matched cross-book market. It evaluates price value; it does not predict that a single bet will win.

The published grade thresholds

  • A — Excellent value: estimated edge of 3% or more.
  • B — Good value: 2% to below 3%.
  • C — Fair value: 1.2% to below 2%.
  • D — Marginal value: 0.5% to below 1.2%.
  • F — Low value: below 0.5%.

Most views hide F-grade results to keep the list focused. The scale above reflects the current grading system.

How the core fair-odds estimate works

  1. Match the same game, market, side, line, and player across supported platforms.
  2. Convert every American price to implied probability.
  3. Average the matched bookmaker probabilities to form the standard market-consensus estimate.
  4. Subtract the current offer’s implied probability from that estimate.
  5. Map the resulting percentage gap to the published grade.

Standard grades are based on market prices. Diamond Club predictions are separate and have their own tracked results on the performance page.

Why the same market can have different grades

Two sportsbooks can post the same outcome at different prices. Because the implied probability changes with the price, one offer may receive a higher grade. A line difference also changes the market itself: over 25.5 and over 26.5 should not be treated as identical bets.

Why grades change

Odds move and new providers enter or leave the matched market. Those changes can affect both the current offer and the consensus estimate. Confirm the current line inside the sportsbook before deciding.

What an A grade does not mean

An A does not mean “safe,” “high confidence,” or “guaranteed winner.” Market consensus can be wrong, data can lag, limits and rules vary, and variance remains. The grade is one input in a responsible process.
